This 2001 BMW M Roadster is one of just 1,600 built with a 3.2L S54 inline-six for the US market. Finished in Black Sapphire Metallic over two-tone Nappa leather, this stock example was sold new in Arkansas and remained in the general region until moving to southern California in 2011. It has spent the past two and a half years in the collection of the selling dealer, who its its third owner. Now showing just over 46k miles, it is being offered out of Indiana with original accessories and literature, a matching hardtop, a clean Carfax report, and a clear California title.
Sheet metal is finished in Black Sapphire Metallic paint, and no accidents are indicated on the Carfax report below. Cosmetic flaws are shown on the rear bumper and convertible top cover in the photos below.
Staggered-width 17″ Roadstar wheels are mounted with Hankook Ventus rubber from 2012, with good tread remaining according to the seller. A matching hardtop with heated rear window is included, and the black fabric soft top is said to work well.
The seller describes a clean interior with a blemish-free dash and light bolster wear on the two-tone factory sport seats. Controls and switchgear are stock, and grey-faced late model instrumentation includes a trio of auxiliary gauges along with a digital odometer showing just over 46k miles. A factory CD player is linked to an optional Harman Kardon stereo system, and additional options include powered and heated seats, as well as cruise control.
The 3.2L S54B52 inline-six made 315 horsepower from the factory thanks to double VANOS variable valve timing and 11.5:1 compression. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF 5-speed manual transmission and a 25% locking differential. The car has been maintained as part of the seller’s collection by his personal mechanic.
Underbody and trunk floor photos show the condition of the rear subframe spot welds. The car is sold with its original tools, literature, and cover.
The Carfax report shows no accidents, thefts, or other issues and appears to support the low mileage. The seller’s Indiana collection is operated under a dealer license, and the clean California title will be reassigned to the new owner.
