Seller Description

This 2001 BMW M Roadster spent 20 years with its original owner before the seller’s purchase, and it now has under 42k miles. It is finished in Imola Red over black Nappa leather and is powered by a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a removable hardtop, 17″ Style 40 wheels, a limited-slip differential, a black convertible soft top, heated sport seats, and a Harman Kardon sound system. This M Roadster is now offered with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, a maintenance summary, service records, spare parts, a car cover, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.

This M Roadster is one of 64 finished in Imola Red over black Nappa leather for the North American market for the model year. Features include a removable body-color hardtop, a power-operated black convertible soft top, front fender vents, and quad exhaust outlets. The door handle gaskets were replaced in August 2024.

The 17″ Style 40 wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring 225/45 up front and 245/40 out back. The car is equipped with Dynamic Stability Control and All-Season Traction (AST), and braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs.

The cabin features black Nappa leather covering the heated sport seats, door panel inserts, and center console. Amenities include a Harman Kardon sound system, roll hoops, air conditioning, cruise control, and a CD stereo. The auto-dimming rearview mirror was rebuilt in April 2022 and the seat bushings were reportedly replaced in May 2023. The seller notes sagging hardtop headliner upholstery as well as a slow-operating left window.

The M-branded leather-wrapped steering wheel features tri-color stitching and frames a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, a 170-mph speedometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates under 42k miles, approximately 7k of which were added under current ownership. The Carfax report has a mileage inconsistency in December 2022, though it is noted as a potential clerical error.

The 3.2-liter S54B32 inline-six features double-VANOS variable valve timing and a Siemens MSS 54 engine management control system. Output was factory-rated at 315 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The seller notes that the VANOS fluid filter was replaced in August 2024.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The window sticker notes initial delivery to Tomkinson Automotive in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and lists factory equipment, colors, options, and a total suggested retail price of $48,735. A car cover, a hardtop cover, manufacturer’s literature, service records, a Blackstone Laboratories oil report, and spare keys are also included in the sale.

The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage.

It looks like a nice, stock S54 roadster. It looks super clean, and the hard top is definitely a huge plus. Bidding up to $20,000.00 so far.
